making paralel port faster - how ?

this is my paralel port PLC

I am controlling I / O boards with the paralel port
but I have a big problem

the paralel port is very slow - even on a new computer
to read a 32 bit serial data ( I serialize the data down to a single bit ) -I need about 1,5 milisecond

considering the time needed for accessing many I / O boards
this is very slow

how can I make paralel port faster ?

making paralel port faster - how ?
If your board supports it you can convert the parallel port of the PC to ECP, EPP or other formats.

You can take a look at:

Which has a lot of info about PC parallel port.
