I am designing an avl board based on an atmel sam7, sim300d and antenova sirfIII gps, has any one tested the above mentioned gps, how do they react in the field?

SIM508 is not supported anymore. Use SIM548C is the best available now.
I have used SIM548C for my applications. It's good.

SIM508, SIM548C both use sirfIII You can see their specs ^^

| I think sim548 can use sirf binary protocol to communicate but is not a sirfIII processor.

I don't think that SIMCOM do not use SIRFIII in their products when they say in the specs they do use it.
As I've known, SIMCOM & WAVECOME is the only 2 companies produce GPRS modules. So, SIMCOM is a big one, anyway
