In current process control industry, more and more smart instruments are been used. And most intelligent instruments support the Modbus protocol, this standard is not the international standards. But modbus has become the de facto industry standard, will be supported and replicated by more and more instrument manufacturers.
Siemens PLC via the CP341 card to achieve the PLC and smart instrument Modbus communications, but its biggest drawback is that it should through the hardware dongle to achieve the Modbus communication. And this dongle is so expensive, and each CP341 in your project need to configure the dongle.
