I don't want to make a big deal out of it, because I don't know what could be done about it. I've noticed a few replies that stated they had the answer, but it wasn't free, or gave links to a finished product with a price list.
This isn't a big issue for me, but it seems contradictory to the purpose of the forum. Which I thought was sharing information freely.
What is the forums stance on this, and how should we deal with it? Just ignore it?

What's the issue with telling people where they can get more information or parts that solve their problem? Pointing someone to a source of a component can prove invaluable. Likewise, if there is a book, eBook or paper that can be purchased that provides more information on the subject why shouldn't that information be allowed?
I don't think either of those cases are in opposition to the forum's purpose. What I think is despicable is when people ask to have eBooks or papers downloaded that are not free. This amounts to theft, and is stealing from those that make their living from writing.

If the reply is an advertisement to sell parts then it does not belong in general forum.
An advertisement can be hidden by providing a link instead.
Please report any advertisements and they will be moved or deleted.

| This forum is for free answers freely given. Report such problems by using the report box at the right of the post. Selling parts is a different thing. I would be suspicious of such offers from individuals. You would be better off dealing with legitimate stores that advertise on the Internet.
