output voltage from RC1/T1OSI/CCP2

Hi,
This might be a out of way question, but still...... Actually few days back I saw a project which was a "Variable Constant Current Source" & the designer had controlled the Output Current value through PIC16F877A. The analog circuit is connected with uC through three pins AN0, AN1 & RC1/T1OSI/CCP2. The system also detects shortciruiting of the output, for this i think he has used AN0 & AN1. And for controlling Output Current value he has produced analog voltage from RC1/T1OSI/CCP2. Is this possible? is it possible to generate a analog output voltage from RC1/T1OSI/CCP2 proportional to internal digital value.

Thanks a lot.
regards,
Garg

Re: output voltage from RC1/T1OSI/CCP2

I believe they have used a PWM output on RC1/CCP2..
it's a sort of "DAC" (digital-to-analog conversion) for pic..
the output is still digital, but you can still get an analog voltage by "averaging" the output of the PWM.
the analog output level will be proportional to the PWM duty cycle.

On the PWM output use a RC network to get analog. The values of RC will depend on the PWM frequency. Use one more RC network to filter out the PWM frequency ripple.

Yes you can generate analog voltages with PWM
consult this Application Note
I hope this can help you
