Re: About voltage regulator

The output voltage can be calculated using the folloing formula:

Uout = Uzener – U[BE ,T1] – U[BE, T2]

If the output voltage is ≈5.6V and assuming the U[BE] of a transistor ≈0.6V, ==>> Uz = 6.8V.
So, to drop the output voltage from 5.6V to 5V you have to drop the Uz by ≈0.6V, that is from ≈6.8V to ≈6.2V ..

Another option is to add two-resistor voltage divider in parallel with the 6.8V zener diode and drop 0.6V that way ..
Or, another option, add a silicon diode (1N4001) between the zener diode and the Base of T1 (or between E of T1 and B of T2) ..

Re: About voltage regulator

you may also put one diode in forward bias at the output of circuit which will put the output voltage down by 0.6 V.
So, output will be 5.0 v.

Re: About voltage regulator

The input transformer is 10 volt as per the tappings used. Change the value of the Zener diode within that limit to get get the required voltage. On the other hand a variable regulator like LM317 may be used and the output may be fed to the base of T1 Transistor as shown in the diagram attached here. Hope it helps you.
