Hi
I am planning to use GSM module to interface it with PIC microcontroller to send and receive sms, can u recomend me any modules u worked with, i have searched the web and found the MC55 from siemens and i think it is suitable, since it supports text mode, any ideas, reviews, comments would be useful thank you all.

Well, the m2m siemens has acquired by cinterion http://www.cinterion.com/.
I think that a good microchip uC for use with GSM/GPRS modules are PIC32 bits bits because this uCīs offers large program and data memory.
At hardware development time, important things can be check like:
1. Voltage level support in uC and module serial/ io pins
2. Power supply with enough capabilite for supply GSM transmittions burts
3. If the module not has internal antenna connector, a microstripe carefull must be done in host board
