finite state machine
is it possible to build an fsm for any arbitary system? are there any restrictions? exceptions?

which is a good book on this topic? the thing is, i know how to construct it theoritically on paper, but have trouble coding it in vhdl. my friend recommended me "digital system design using vhdl" by charles roth. could you please post a link to the ebook or could you please upload it in the upload section.

Hi,
i suggest you read a book on FSM design using an HDL. A new book
is

its quite good and teaches you exactly what you want. If you dont like
Verilog, this is a nice book also:
