I see hundreds of questions about how to design small circuits from beginners and students who don't seem to even understand Ohm's law, in the Professional forum.
The Professional Hardware and Electronics Design is for:
EMC and Electrical Safety standards. Quality assurance labels (CE). Others Standards and whatever related with professional hardware design.
Can something be done about this? I suggest:
1. Let the Professional Hardware and Electronics Design forum be for asking serious questions about circuit design.
2. Create a separate forum for for FCC/CE/UL etc. certification
3. Rename the "Hobby Circuits and Small Projects Problems" forum to Small Projects and Beginners questions

Yes it is becoming more problem than before
Different moderator will handle in different ways.
If it is clear that it is in wrong forum, my own method is to move to trashcan or completely delete it without notice.

Thats a bit harshe Frosty, when its simple enough to move it to the correct forum?
I appreciate that a moderators job is a PITA (I should know I have done it here too) but to delete a thread because someone has got mixed up & put a thread in the wrong forum, surely thats not what the job is, surely the job involves moving them rather than deleting them?

| I agree with Frosty. Wrong forum posts must be deleted (moved to Trashcan) as it is the only way to teach lazy users to keep order. (Warnings and PMs are unefficient). I make exclusions for threads with reply - they are moved to correct forum.

Well, not really too harsh, specially after doing 50 or so within an hour!
The odd 1 or 2 its a mistake depending on post level I do actually move them.
When I see the same requests cross posted to many wrong forums I just delete them or trashcan them.
I could just keep hitting the user with move post and a warning but that is actual MORE work than just delete.
It is usually quite obvious with post level and composition of the message to guess if user post is genuine mistake or not
So far after many years of doing it I have no complaines and 9/10 times the request is repost in correct place and i feel strong the user is better eductae like this, instead of warnings all the time.

Fair enough, BTW thank you for being a mod, I'm not meaning to criticize & upon reflection what you say is quite right.
I remember having no life & being a slave to the forums & getting no gratitude but lots of grief
Now I have escaped & still have no life as I'm a slave to elsewhere

If its a newbie question posted in wrong category, I move it to the respective place. As announcements are alreday put up in respectives section "Read before you post" such posts will be directed to the trash without notice.
It is also seen, If a question (Original post)is not answered, the author again starts a new thread with the same topic. Such memebrs will be warned with yellow cards. I have deleted such 4-5 posts with the same topic from the same author.

Moderators see a row of coloured buttons to the right of each post
If the post is not OK, the moderator can press one of these buttons, yellow=warning, red=ban and so on.

Added after 3 minutes:
The "yellow card" system is also no secret
its a standard mod for the phpbb bbs software to make moderator job easier

Is example

If you look at your profile the moderator who gave you the warning has left the reason in a message
