pcb antena wimax

Dear All,

By the information on internet the frequency range of FR4 is up to 2GHz . However, there are many research papers are using PCB of FR4 substrate (for example, 0.8mm for thickness)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fr4#Applications

Does FR4 has no any protential problem for the fabricated WiMax antenna (three frequency bands are 2.7GHz, 3.7Ghz and 5.8Ghz) ?

Or these talked minor factors are acceptable and known issue for this antenna ?

Thanks for your comment.

wimax antenna bandwidth

I think it is OK to use FR4 substrate for WiMAX antenna. Since most of this PCB antenna is monopole or dipole types, so the thin PCB does not introduce much loss for the antenna.

If it is patch antenna type, the loss might be a big issue. But general speaking, the patch antenna bandwidth is not wide enough for WiMAX applications.

FR4 substrate circuit board although 2GHz barely used, in the 2.7GHz, 3.7GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands, due to substrate loss is too large or not suitable for design of WiMAX antenna.
