There is something called 'Motion Estimation' In MPEG encoding. While the standard defines the inputs and outputs of Motion estimation, it does not define the method to do it. A good project can be developing a novel algorithm, and implementing the same on FPGA. Motion estimation is all about processing still image frames from mpeg stream
