All

I need to implement a bluetooth chip antenna - probably a HDA. I am also looking at meanderline and monopole antennas. These are all PCB mount and require groundplanes. the GP is not underneath the antenna but is close to on the same side of the PCB.
Some of these require a small PI circuit to match the antenna to 50R.
My question - these are not balanced antennas. Do I require a BALUN? There is no COAX feed. The transmission line is on the PCB. At no point is the line balanced anywhere.

any help / comments appreciated
thanks
John

I do not know what HDA means. But regarding meanderline, or
monopole or chip or PIFA, all can be feed by a CPW(coplanar
waveguide) therefore you do not need a BALUN. Besides all
of them are not balanced
structured so they do not need it anyway.
By the way, they can be feed by a coaxial.
