Post13 Aug 2008 13:02   USB Programmer schematic needed

Hi everyone!

I used to use a Serial programmer for my microchip projects until today, but as everything changes, my new computer only has USB port and my serial programmer became "ancient history".

Does anyone have a simple usb programmer schematic , with easily availabe components ?

Tks in advance!

What MPU are you trying to program?

I'm trying to use PIC12F629, 12F675, 16F84A, 16F648
All of them from Microchip.

Greetings,

Try this programmer:
http://www.sprut.de/electronic/pic/projekte/brenner8/index.htm#aufbau
The website is in German, but it is fairly east to navigate.

There are also several variations of the PicKit2 on this forum.

Blueroomelectronics has an excellent kit called the Junebug. It is however, limited to 5v devices.

Funnynypd also has a very good kit. His kit is not limited to 5v, but it uses surface-mount components.

I did my own version of the PicKit2 on a single-sided board with all through-hole components. It programs all of the devices that the original does. The layout is not pretty, but it works perfectly. Feel free to improve the layout as needed.

You will still need another programmer to write the firmware to the 18F2550.

Good Luck.
