Have a look at Eagle ! The demo is free, just limited on the size and 2-layers, but with that you can already make a lot. Check on http://www.cadsoft.de/freeware.htm . You can also download manuals on their website.

Try Kicad
Very good schematic and PCB software.
http://iut-tice.ujf-grenoble.fr/cao/
Then click on KiCad-2008-08-25c-final-WinXP_autoinstall.zip for a windows install file. Hope this helps!

Try Orcad it is very good software.
Not sure but heard that is free now but I am not sure.
