RS232C to RS232C isolated repeater

Post29 Jul 2008 23:51   RS232C to RS232C isolated repeater

I need a schematic of a RS232C to RS232C isolated repeater with full control or using RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR (RI not used) and -12V and +12V output swing voltage.
Maximun speed 9600 baud.

Was wondering to use a couple of four channel optoisolator one as four line receiver and other as four line transmiter. Is there another good and simple idea??

Circuits with MAX232 <-> optoisolator <-> MAX232 work well ..

Of course you will have to isolate power to supply both sides of this barrier; small DC/DC converter such as the NME0505 should easily do the job ..
