It will be nice but there is a problem. When we have a lot of paper we need to sort them by topics otherwise it is hard to find what you need. I have this problem with my library. There are at least half a million of articles and finding what you need if you do not remember where it is or exact title may be hard task. On computer I usually use pdf or windows search engines and it may take a whole night to finish the search. Imagine if you will try to do the same through Internet connection. It may be unrealistic. We need to find the way how to sort and search the papers.

yes i totally agree with you on the sorting problem, but they can be arranged in alphabetical order depending on the topic's name, and at the end of the week or month we can have a poll asking the user if the article was useful or not, if the article has the highest no of votes it can remain or else it should be deleted so tht only the best stay's and there is a oppurtunity for the newer articles to stay in the limelight!!!

Are the existing forums not good enough for you to post such articles in?

Why not try posting these articles in the current forums, then if there are enough & it does not dwindle off there will be more in favour of a new fori.

hey superb idea CYBERRAT...........but there has to be active participation.......it shouldn't be one dimensional..............like one guy only posting the articles and others jus reading it and not contributing............i gt such an idea because i have noticed tht there are ton's of people in EDA who know quite a lot of excellent websites, but they suggest those websites only if they are asked a sensible query, if the advanced member rating member's can start contributing in the articles then it would be worth strting a post!!!

To joe1986,

I like your idea, but who will do all work for sorting and develop search engine? I doubt that moderators want to do it. This is full time job.

Placing papers into topic is good, but how to find them later, say in a couple of months?

So far creating and maintaining own searchable library seems to be the best solution. When you need the paper you ask about it and somebody who have it and willing to search can help you. This is the system what we have now. In this case all the maintenance burden spread between all of us. I think that good libraries available only for paid access web sites.

even the current search engine of EDA is not upto the mark.................when i try searching for a book i end up gtting sum other search result's, but don't you think instead of creating a post , creating a section would be better so tht removing the articles which are of least interest would be easier, sorting can be done alphabetically, and as far as moderator's are concerned, there are many in this site who wouldn't mind becoming a MOD.

What must be done?

Nothing!

You want to post some articles then post them, there are enough forums to be able to post them in already, until you have posted so many that there is a definite need for a new forum then its going to remain pretty empty.

You are going to post them aren't you? Wink

yah it is a good idea to sort out the thesis or other technical paper that would benefit to others. if there is a portion of having an index for that...

@cyber
i personally feel tht the IEEE section consist of a lot of articles which makes sense only to the uploader and the demander and maybe a handful of expert's around here, which jus keep piling up, instead of of creating a seperate IEEE section, why not allow the user to request for the IEEE article he wishes to gt for sum research work in the ELECTRONIC SECTION, this can make room for the section im suggesting..............wht say??

you need more of a searchable database. sorting and searching by topic isn't sufficient for everyone.

the 1643 books i have arranged by topic in respective folders don't help much when they encompass 800 different topics and you can't remember the title or what section it would be in.
