Hi,
I would like to know the difference between wireless sensor network (WSN) and a Wireless Ad hoc networkCan the protocols/methods used in one WSN be used in ad hoc too, and vice versa? what are the similarities and difference between these 2 networks?

The main difference is the severe resource contraints in sensor networks in terms of power, memory capacity ... etc.

thank you Very Happy

this would mean that wireless ad hoc networks are much powerful than sensor network, right? As such, can applications such as routing methods, power saving algorithms etc used in sensor networks be used in wireless ad hoc network too?

is there any useful resource (journals, books) that validates this?

Many thanks Smile

You should read this paper:

I. Akyildiz, W. Su, Y. Sankarasubramaniam, and
E. Cayirci. A survey of wireless sensor networks. IEEE
Communications magazine, 40( 8 ), 2002.
