Is there passivation layer on the profile and bottom of chip

Post05 Jul 2008 5:01   Is there passivation layer on the profile and bottom of chip

I know there is this layer on the top of chip.but Is there passivation layer on the profile and bottom of chip? I am afraid it is conductive because there is some wire
under it on the pcb.

What do you mean the profile? There is no passivation on the bottom of the chip as this would be the substrate.

Added after 1 minutes:

look at it like filling a tank up then putting a lid on it (passivation)

The bottom of die is substate. It is conductor.
