It's very easy to build and don't need a power supply.
Programming: PIC12C5xx, 12C67x, 24Cxx, 16C55x, 16C61, 16C62x, 16C71, 16C71x, 16C8x, 16F8x.
Just connect to COM port and use software ICprog 0.5
100% working (tested by gulson)

for those who doesnt understand polish..
here is the original jdm page:
http://www.jdm.homepage.dk/newpic.htm
and a modified version with eagle brd is available here:
http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp_jdm.html
from the very good site ucapps.de which covers DIY midi applications
| Quote: |
| R1 and the voltage of D5 are additional modifications which are necessary for all newer PICs which come with the low-voltage-programming capability (which is in fact not used by the JDM programmer and has to be disabled by the 10k pulldown resistor at pin RB3) and a slightly increased value for the Z-diode in order to meet the programming specs of PIC16F87x |
both are not tested by me, but they soon will be

is this circuit acceptable for 40 pins PIC's?
if it's possible how can i take it from you?
because i tried some circuit for 40 pins but i didn't take good performance.
thanks again.
i am waiting your answer..

I don't know the JDM-programmer but generally it never depends on the number of pins a PIC has. You can always easily build adapters or program them in-circuit by connecting 3 (4) pins and powersupply. Much more it depends on the family the programmer supports. There are about 5 different algorthms used by microchip (12Cxx, 16Cxx, 16Fxx, 16F87x, 16F87xA, perhaps some more). So take a look at the programmers specs if your PIC-type is supported.

Hi SenthilKumar,
Did you put the file icprog.sys also in the ICprog dir?
The programs runs fine on Win2K & XP machines.
I remember there were some problems in the past using parallel port programmer & Win2k.
This is really one of the best programmer soft I have seen, and I use it all the time. The programmer has done a good job on this, and it is totally FREE!!
Regards, msmax

hi
can anyone help me to find some way to construct a circuit for reading smart card with encrypted data, and its programer....?
I'm try JDM to do this job, since the Smart Card consist of PIC16F84 and EEPROM ( which is the problem ), I have no idea how to connect PIC and EEPROM at the same time with 8 pin only
Please some one answer me.....
thanks in advance

hi
Thanks alot for your help, I'm actual have some problem with English...but for Japanese, Indian & Chines is a BIG trouble ...I will try to extract information from it...
The 3rd link "http://www.jdm.homepage.dk/newpic.htm" which is acutely I found before not work with me...I don't know why ?, may be do you poor program supplied in JDM web-site(In my opinion). I hope I can find another software to do this job...
Anyway, Thanks

|
|
|

You can read the eeprom 2 ways, one is by programming a loader on your pic which reads the eeprom via the pic (if the PIC is code protected then you can forget about a working smart card again), the other is by reading it directly with the jdm programmer. Four connections are needed. Clock, data and power. The only software I recall that does eeproms with the JDM was the PIX software (PIX113).
Reading a code protected 16F84 is possible, but you'll probably need 3-4 chips, as "busting" them usually finishes with corrupt data, meaning that with the contents of 3-4 chips, and a bit of imagination you can reconstuct a good file.
Cheers
sda

Nearly every f series PIC uses the following inetrface
- RB6 (CLK) - DATACLK
- RB7 (DATA) - DATA
- VPP/RST - +12 - 14 V during programming
hepresto you can make an adapter for every kind of pic

Hi
Thanks all, the ''Vp-20 Programmer'' is beautiful solution,I'm work on it now....
But if any one use JDM programer...when i connect the circuit without PIC, the program detect the circuit. But when PIC is on board it can't be detect at all.... . I try hard to find the problem, but I failed to let it work.I make all possible check for circuit connection, they all perfect as well as voltages upon zener...please someone give me answer?
Thanks again

It should be the usual case of the com port not being able to supply the necassary voltage to power up the JDM interface.
I assume that the host PC is a notebook, as they supply max -+5v on the comport, and barely enough for the chip to go into programming mode
A home PC should be ok.
Cheers

Hi sda
actually I use Home PC for that (old one )but when I read your comment, I change the PC...surprise It works , Although it has verify error but its work....thats good.I will get it work correctly soon, may be by use extra pull-up resistance and MAX chip
Thanks for your sharp idea.....

I have built 2 of these programers now . The first one worked on 2 PCs win 98 + ME and the second one I built worked ,just on a very old PC win 95. The problem was geting the program voltage high enough( +12v).
Reduce the size of the 2 caps and the feed resistor to lift the program voltage a little. double cheque your component values and oreantation and take off any led`s on the programing volts line.
good luck

Try PonyProg - very easy to build and supports a quite large range of devices.
