Post28 May 2008 18:18   HP LJ 4 - Wrinkeling

Hi all,
I sure am glad this site is here.

My HP LJ 4 is wrinkling the paper as it comes out.
It's wrinkling on the backside as it comes up to exit and it does jam at times... I say this because sometimes the paper will exit on the top pr-wrinkled.

My son told me it jammed and he pulled a sheet of paper out from the bottom backside and it was very hard to pull out. After that, the paper started wrinkling.

Thank you very much for any advice and or solutions.

Steve

My experience with wrinkling paper in Laser printer is that it is caused by worn or dirty feed rollers. Over time these rubber rollers get hard from heat and ozone.

I would suggest blowing all the dust out with compressed air. Then clean all the rubber rollers with alcohol. Let all the alcohol evaporate, then test. Years ago, I used to buy little bottles of rubber cleaner called Vita-Drive. We used it in repairing rubber rollers in tape decks and VCRs. Other than cleaning, I think you then have to start replacing rollers.
