Are you sure it is a standard single diode package and not a combo diode like a diac? I would look around the PCB for another diode with the same markings and check its conductance vs. the one you are suspecting.
Larger power diode typically fail shorted rather than open. Small switching diodes will fail open because after the diode structure shorts the internal bond wires vaporize.
The replacement semiconductor website www.nteinc.com crosses SV-3 to NTE177. You can compare the specs and size to see if it is at least physically close. Otherwise search the archive for a Sharp TV schematic that is close and use part numbers from that doc.
