ir led sensor for a line follower

hello guys...

i want to ask , is there anyone that has a tutorial how to make IR sensor as a closed loop for line follower to steer the robot using PD control??? i read a lil' bit that the IR needs to be connected to ADC??? is anyone??? thanks before

line follower optimal sensor placement

dont need a ADC circuit for this.
When I did the line following robot it used to follow a white line drawn. and i used some sensors without adc. i will recall it and tell you by my end of day. I have this project I will send you the schematic code and report of this. just see if you get any help from it.

follow a line with an ir sensor

It depends on the configuration of the IR leds you use. For instance to follow a line using only a single IR LED you will have to pass the signal from the photo transistor or photo diode in order to determine the level of reflection and as such determine if the robot is still on the desired path.

A much simpler method is to use more than one IR LED typical 3 in a triangle configuration. Using this method the output from the photo transistor is simply a digital input, and by using simple logic the robot is able to adjust its course according ly.

Example of LED layout / placement

ir sensors used for line following

hi all...

honestly , i have worked at this line follower before, but the movement like zig zag.... i inspired to do this follower by using PD control and use the sensor for the closed loop. with that system the follower will move smoothly.... i want to buid the program wtih at89s51 and using assembly language... so is there anyone has the tutorial related to it????

replace 89c2051 with any controller you want.
