nostuff

Hi all,

What does it mean if a component in schematics is labeled with "nostuff"? Does it should be changed with 0 ohm jumper/wire?

Thanks.

not stuff what is mean in schematic

It means is not assembled.
Some times is flagged as DNF(Do Not Fit), DNP((Do Not Populate), etc.

So, it means if the component (e.g. a resistor) is connecting 2 nets, and it is labeled with NOSTUFF, then the nets will be unconnected? Is this what you mean?

Thanks.

No damian. In layout the nets will be connected as they normally would. The only difference is in assembly. The assembly shop will not place those devices on the card (thus leaving the circuit open).

This is common when an engineer wants to implement alternate signal paths in his design.

Hope this helps.

also it is called NM(not mounted)

sometime the same board is used in different application.so it is possible that designer may use those
components for any other applications

Do NOT STUFF during Assembly.

this is place holder for the design in case if the original logic doesn't work we can make use of NO STUFF to get alternate logic option.

NO STUFF- EMPTY

This is also widely known as DNS (Do Not Stuff), it's an indication to Schematic reader, interpretation for the Schematic complier tool to understand that DNS is part that is not going to be assembled during the assembly. it's a location provided as a optional or feature specific needs demands.
