Do you mean the tail current source?
if yes, I think the lengthis most imporment. Then you should make it work in saturation region.

If the tail transistor is for input pair, it is better to have a constant gm design for having stable gm.
If the tail transistor is for load like the current mirror, need larger gm, which equivalently means large length.
