Instead of just implementing signal chain, Consider anything specific like (this is relating to Layer-1)-
1. Channel estimation for WiMax pilot scheme in DL UL
2. MIMO/STC detection schemes from WiMax point of view
3. Ranging code decoding algorithms are receiver (UL)
4. HARQ implemenations in PHY layer
