The answer is Mentor does not support Vista. Here is what Mentor says on their support site:
"Mentor Graphics works closely with customers and vendors to select the configurations we support. As Windows Vista becomes more important to our customers, Mentor Graphics will establish a roadmap and support strategy to assist customers in planning their design environments on the Windows Vista platform. Currently, however, Windows Vista is not a supported platform for Mentor Graphics. Use of Mentor Graphics software in an unsupported configuration is without warranty or support services. You may request that Mentor Graphics application(s) be supported in a future release on Windows Vista by logging in to SupportNet and opening a Service Request
If you use the Windows Operating System, we recommend that you remain on Windows XP Professional until support for your product is available on the Windows Vista platform. We will alert you on SupportNet, in the SupportPro technical newsletter, and in product-specific Release Highlights when we begin supporting Windows Vista."
I think the real reality is that most companies are not moving to Vista as quickly as Microsoft would of liked, so companies like Mentor do not see the need to make the resource investment. I am sure they are working on it and I have heard that their newer stuff works (Mostly, depending on which tools), but Mentor doesn't officially support it. However, I really doubt that are going to go back and make patches for WG2002 for Vista support. You will most likely have to move to a service pack version of WG2007 to get Vista support.
