Post12 Mar 2008 0:14   GSM/GPRS module

Hi,

I am starting to design an alarm transmitter using both GSM and GPRS .
I'm looking for a simple and cheap one with an analog audio interface (for transmission vocal message via GSM) and a data input (for transmission via GPRS).

I don't need TCP/IP or other internet protocols !!

I don't need also many supplementry features that would, uselessly, raise its price .

So, Any sugestions about GSM/GPRS modules? Smile

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the module in the pdf. It is in a BGA package but if you search in google you will see that some manufactures put this onto a small pcb with a few other components. In South Africa the is this place that sells them: http://www.rfdesign.co.za/pages/5645456/Products/GSM-Products/Modules.asp

Post18 May 2008 11:28   Re: GSM/GPRS module

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a new non-voice value added service that allows Mobile Phones to be used for sending and receiving data over an Internet Protocol (IP)-based network. GPRS as such is a data bearer that enables wireless access to data networks like the Internet, enabling users to access E-mail and other Internet applications using Mobile Phones
