| Only moderator can do it. If your old post is obsolete, then you can make report to delete it. Moderator will decide to delete it or not.

I sometimes find strange courses of a thread. I was just aware, that a contributor has apparently deleted a post (maybe he finally thought it was irrelevant) although a later post referenced it. That's rather confusing.
Up to now, I only felt a need to delete a post, that has been duplicated due to server problems. I think similar to mark later editing of a post, deletion should also be marked by a placeholder comment (or not be possible after some timeout at all).
Or could it be, that threads are distorted due to database errors?

I do not think so - there were no such errors of database as far as I know.
Post deleting is disabled for some reasons connected with point system. You have found some crooked topics after info deleting by user. You see, it will be much better to allow only moderators to delete posts, other way some of of threads will lose consistency.

It is not so easy to change a board code, also there are some other reasons to avoid it. Better use all power of moderators by means of report system if you have any need to delete post or topic.

| It seemed to me, that I had experienced deleted posts in a thread. If you say, it's not possible generally and should also not be expected by computer error, this answer completely meets by intention.
