Hello Sir,
I want to interface Ethernet controller with microcontroller. I see some Ethernet controller in which SPI interface there. I have doubt, Is there different microcontroller have different Ethernet controller. Currently I have 89s52 microcontroller.
Can you suggest me which Ethernet controller is useful for me ?..
Thanking you...

Hello atmaca,
Thanks for reply & suggestion. But i still confused. Can you please tell me why i use microchip instead of 89s52 ?.. and why not use 89s52 ?..
Can you please send me any useful link for practical understanding...
Thank you for help me...

There is very hard to get hte ethernet controller IC since you are not a representative from a big company.
So, I still advice you to take other's member's suggestions. Use another type of MCU with built in Ethernet (Zilog, Microchip and ......)

Hi,
You have a development kit available from silabs. I have bought the same ethernet kit for my educational use from silabs dealer in India. Read the book(link given below) on TCP/IP implementation on embedded device. Dont stick to AT89S52.
Initially in my college days i used the same AT89S52 . Silabs is much better than AT89S52 with lots of memory & pheripheral. It is also widely in the industry.

hi,
the ethernet kit i bought from a local representative. It cost me around Rs.14000/-
The mouser pric is 120$ excluding shipping

Can u get me more details such as ur mail id & which city do u live in so that i can mail u on whom to contact .
try reading this ethernet design guide

Hi,
I see another atmel ic atmega88 or atmega168 which is used with ethernet controller ENC28J60.but here atmega 88/168 is not available.Instead of that atmega8 is available.I see both datasheet but not too much difference i find.
Can i used it for my application ?..
Thank you....

hi,
U can choose any controller but before choosing the controller please verify that u have enough support in terms of TCP/IP stack for the controller u use. You can build your own stack but it is not easy.

Hi,
Can I use microchip Ethernet controller ENC20J60 only with microchip microcontroller like PIC18F4620, etc or other microcontroller like Atmega88, 128, etc. ?..
Same as for, Atmel Ethernet controller CS8900 use only withAtmel microcontroller or other microcontroller....
What will be suitable for me ?.. Why ?..
Thank you...

Hello Ankur,
the ENC28J60 requires additional software, the said IP stack, but no programmer. The software may me a reason, why the device isn't suited for your application, e. g. due to limited code space. I want to suggest a different chip: W5100 from Wiznet. www.wiznet.co.kr
This is an ethernet controller with embedded TCP/IP stack as known e. g. from GSM GPRS modems, including many functions you would need to implement in your software otherwise. It also has some restrictions, but most likely they don't count for your application. They also have good example applications.
I know, that Wiznet is represented in India, see Where to Buy on their homepage. There are also preceeding chips from Wiznet, but W5100 is probably best for new designs, a single-chip solution, offering different interfaces.
Regards,
Frank

Do you have any idea how complex writing even porting a TCP/IP stack is?

Hi,
I done inquiry about ENC28J60.But there is tcp/ip stack problem.
Is there another solution for that instead of ENC28J60 ?..
I want to use ethernet with AT89S52/AT89S8252 for communication only.
Thanking you..

Hi ,
I have used WIZ5100 ethernet controller from wiznet with AVR micro-controller.
It can be interfced via SPI or bus.
The code is available for AVR on their site which can be modified as per application requirement.
Its worked fine for me....U can check it out......

Hi
You can use the S1S60000 from epson it is more powerfull then the W5100 since it use an ARM720 as a core processor and parallel port interface
All the best

Hello,

Regarding the original requested network interface for a small 8-bit uC, this doesn't seem to be an advantage. Also chip pincount and such. That's why I suggested W5100, but obviously there's is world of other options.
