Germanium is not a good current handler and GaAs is not as cost-efficient and silicon, so frankly, NO.

Re: Any other Good Alternative for Silicon as Semiconductor

hi,
1. When the generation rate equals the recombination
rate, thermal equilibrium exists. In a pure semiconductor the concentration of
electrons n is equal to that of holes p. These concentrations are called intrinsic carrier
concentration'ni'.
the graph represents "Intrinsic carrier concentration of Ge, Si and GaAs as function of temperature".

2.Elemental silicon is the principal component of most semiconductor devices, most importantly integrated circuits or microchips. Silicon is widely used in semiconductors because it remains a semiconductor at higher temperatures than the semiconductor germanium and because its native oxide is easily grown in a furnace and forms a better semiconductor/dielectric interface than almost all other material combinations.
i hope above pts may help u...
regards..
