What is IEEE 802.11a,b and e?

As we know that the WLAN specification is IEEE 802.11, but can some tell me that the difference between them
(1) IEEE 802.11a
(2) IEEE 802.11b
(3) IEEE 802.11e

a is the 5 GHZ band direct spread modulation. b is the 2.4 GHz band direct spread modulation. The other may be frequency hopping or IR.

E is probably OFDM in the 5 GHz band set aside for data transmission.

hi there ,
in a and b ieee specifies the physical layer , while in e the changes are in mac layer . and can use a physical layer with a or b spec..

a gives more importance to data rate --54mbps
b has only 11mbps , popular soho choice.

e is used for QoS needed networks with applications like real time multimedia streaming and all.
