hi there
wdm is an abbreviation of Wave-Length Division Multiplexing meaning that u use multiple wavelengths of light as different carries for data and its used of course in optical fibers communications and it has 3 kinds :1-Conventional 2-Dense 3-Coarse and they differ in the number of channels used and the spectral distance between channels..we all now that changing wave length of light implies change in the frequency because their multiplication for example in vacum C the speed of light ,is constant
u should know that WDM is also FDM because we change in frequency also but when we speak about light we prefer to use the wavelength instead of frequency
I hope this info was usefull
Thanks
Mohammad

There is a book:
Lightwave Technology : Telecommunication Systems by Govind P. Agrawal
A CD containing illuminating examples based on RSoft Design Group's award-winning OptSim optical communication system simulation software is included with the book to assist readers in understanding design issues. Finally, extensive, up-to-date references at the end of each chapter enable students and researchers to gather more information about the most recent technology breakthroughs and applications.
You can understand WDM very well with this software, limited because is a student version but very good option.

it means we use it in optical router simulation.
what is the best tool for optical network, i mean simulator!
that is easy to use and is effective.
infact have u any idea about zeemax ??
