polarx 2

Hello,

I'm using a PolaRx II GPS Receiver.

My question is very simple:

how can I be sure that my component is working fine? I mean: the receiver has to cope with disruptive effects (intentional like jamming and not intentional like interference, multipath).

Which is the incoming disruptive power threshold that guarantees that my GPS receiver is giving the appropriate service?

Similar to the SNR value, can I know/calculate a SJR ("Signal to Jamming Ratio") .. a threshold value that guarantees that the received jamming power level doesn't affect the Receiver itself.

Best regards,

Lupin

Well, if you are getting a position fix, then your receiver is working fine. Try digging up the data sheet for the receiver IC it's using and look at that, that should give you some information. What exactly are you trying to do?

Re: PolaRx II GPS receiver

I've been closely looking at the PolaRx II data sheet but I got no information about JSR.

I need only to know if my Receiver is "working fine" considering the jamming environment that might occur...

In some texts I found values like 71 dB but it's only a "role of thumb" value.. I would need something more precise for the GPS receiver in question...

Any suggestion?

Re: PolaRx II GPS receiver

Well, then you need to be more precise. If you put in a jammer at 20 GHz, then I suspect that you'll get more than 71 dB of margin (Jammer power - on channel power). Is this an IC or a packaged Receiver? Googling for PolaRX II didn't get me anything. Does the data sheet mention blocking power?

I guess I'm still confused. Do you have a known jamming environment that you are trying to use this GPS receiver in? If that's the case, then go try it in that environment. If you get a position fix, then your receiver is working.

Re: PolaRx II GPS receiver

I have a GPS Receiver acting in a strongly "interfering" environment (or maybe I suppose so, cause I notice several loss of track of GPS signals) ..the interfering frequency is the same.. I need to know how much is the immunity of my receiver about interfering / jamming signal.. I mean the extraneous power level that provokes the loss of the GPS satellites in my receiver..

Hope I have been clearer, thanks in advance for your support.
