Dear,
I looking for one module GSM for use in cars, I used now wavecom modules, but SIM module are very good price and I thinks change for this one. I would like to know about the stability of SIM module.
Used also GPS modules, many use SIM508 or SIM548 or separately SIM300D or SIM340D
I need also datasheet from SIM modules,
Can you help me?
Thank you very much

Can I use program, C or Java inside the SIM modules? How many MB have?

Hi Fernando!
I am talk from Brazil and here, I am not have any mention of this modules...
About the script language built in modules, in the sim website, I have not found any mention...
Particularly, I prefer habitual solution (GSM/GPRS module, GPS module, Microcontroller), because I can manage the solution completely. I general cases, using GSM/GPRS modules with build in script support, internally the cpu priority is GSM/GPRS network, then, in some cases the rest of the "tasks" run slowly, when run!
Well I think that SIM modules are well know in edaboard forum! Some brothers here work and post some question about this modules...Above, You can see the links for read and take part of this scenario:

Hi Gorkin,
I from Brazil too and speak portuguese well, but my english is so so.
I thing is better used microcontroller separately because have more flexibility in the project, I look for low cost, quality and thing used SIMCOM modules and microcontroller is good.
I bought two SIM340 modules and evolution board for test and receive about 22 may.
I'm waiting receive,
Regards,
Fernando.

Fernando,
I am talk from Belo Horizonte - MG, currently, I am develop too some embedded applications using GSM/GPRS modens for AVL and telemetry solutions (read electronic kwh inducstrial meters).
I also have interest in develop these applications using SIM modules, because these prices are very competitives. What You think about a partneship for develop a initial hardware part?
If You have interest, please contact-me at: chrdcv[at]yahoo[dot]com[dot]br for more details.

I also think that you should use a microcontroller for your embedded functions and leave just the managing of the TCP conection to the module.
If you are looking for java m2m modules you should try G24 from motorola or 12i from Nokia.
In my page you could find some help from other developers in spanish or you can try in portuguese no problem at all.
There are some projects with G24 SIM340 and Siemens.
You are welcome.
