Post07 Feb 2007 12:23   Tracks of a standard cell.

Hi all.

I have three doubts regarding tracks of a standard cell.
1. What are tracks?
2. What is the use of these tracks?
3. If we increase the no of tracks how it will improve the performance?
Plz spare some time to answer these queries.

regards,
pandit.

Hi

1. Track are nothing but routing grids

2. P & R tools will use these tracks for routing.........standard cells are coming in diffrents tracks like 7 track 9 track 12 track.

7 tracks means we have 7 tracks available for routing.

3. If u increase the track ur cells will be faster but will consume more power.....

Thanks

tracks allocation is just a virtual allocation.........

do std cell power consumption takes into account these wire track power consumption too......if yes .....then depending on design..it will vary a lot...................i think so......

pls comment on this.......

thanks,
Prasad
