as I ever use , simulator can sim your 8051 coding
and you can watch 8051 IO port 0/1 ..
and setting flag for debug ..
some 8051 simulator IO can connect "fake" 7-seg LED ..and show something
but , when you finsih simulation . you still need
hardware eumation again , make sure hardware IO
or interrupt ..

Thanks for uploading the tools. I read some interesting discussion going on regarding 8051 simulator .. Let me add something to it..
Simulation means to imitate some real thing and the object which performs it is called Simulator........
8051 and its variants falls under the MCS51 family of microntrollers. These microcontrollers are having some registers, memory, ports, timers etc. One may need to write program in assembly /higher level language to access these peripherals and to perform some action.
So now the question comes how do we verify our programs.. means how to check whether our programs are running properly or not....???.
To check those things we have to simulte it ... To simulate we need some tools which can imitate the 8051/MCS51 architecture........ Therefore 8051 simulator is a software where we can execute the programs and see the output before downloading it to the real microcontroller.

| first u start with basic microcontroller architecture and instruction set design.i prefer better u start with 8051 microctroller architecture by MAzidi and start with c based application design.

OSHONSOFT 8051 simulator...
I've been using PIC simulator by OSHONSOFT and i felt its the best...so the simulator for 8051 should also be good...
Best Regards

| Considering that Microcontrollers are one of the easier subjects to learn for programming, RIDE is the best. It is well suited for projects and robotics. Almost all UG studs use it to get a feel of 8051.
