Changing positions of MOSFETS in CMOS inverter

Post26 Jan 2007 16:41   Changing positions of MOSFETS in CMOS inverter

What will happen if we change the positions of MOSFETs in a CMOS inverter i.e if we use nMOS as a pull-up and pMOS as pull-down?Will the output be same or different?

the swing will be limited. Max = Vdd - Vth and Min = Vth. This is due to the Vgs of nMOS and pMOS.

Hi,
if we interchang nmos and pmos then it will no more works like invertor, it behaves like weak buffer with output levels vdd-vth for logic high and vth for logic level zero for input Vin with vdd logic high, and zero for logic zero respectively.

It wont work as inverter, but buffer with logic level degraded....
