about cadence tools

Hellow all,

I need information about cadence tools like which are tools from cadence which supports FULL CUSTOMED IC Design FLOW: I need just some comments from experts as well in each of the stages in cadence tools,
More like I am going through the tools from Simucad www.simucad.com
so I am giving you one by one the tool names ..Pls tell me which are the tools are there from cadence which supports this flow compare to the tools which I am illustrating below

1.) Gateway: Schametic editor : Schematic capture and editor

2.) Smart Spice : Analog Circuit 100% HSPICE compatible fror netlists, models, analysis features ( basically spice based simulator which does analysis for circuits designed in gateway)
integrated with gateway

3.)Twistor: Full chip analog circuit simulator. its same as smart spice but supports the different hierarchy level designs ... takes sub circuits and design the complete circuits using sub modules and fasten the simulation speed

4.) Smart Spice RF: Harmonic Balance simulator , for RF circuit designs.

5.) Harmony Analog/ mixed-Signal simulator: it links between the analog circuit simulator with verilog simulator and does power full mix mode simulation.

6.) Expert Layout Editor : Enable mask designers to achieve density and performance in analog and digital Layouts.

7.) Guardian : DRC/ LVS/ LPE physical verification
tightly integrated with the simuCADs schematic editors and layout editors

8.) HIPEX: Full chip parasitic Extraction Products
this module is also tightly integrated with Expert layout editor....

so I feel this stages COMPLETES the full flow of Full custom IC design....
kindly tell me if any thing is missing....
and do give me the name of tools from cadence witch does the same job more or less different also....Experts please give ur comments who has worked in these tools.....

I am replying back for the respective Cadence tools as per your numbering :
1. Schematic Editor : Virtuoso Schematic Editor
2. Simulator : Spectre/ HSPICE Based socket simulator
3. Top Level Simulator : HSIM
4. RF : Spectre RF
5. Mixed Signal Simulator : AMS/ Spectre-Verilog
6. Layout : Virtuoso Layout Editor
7. DRC/LVS/LPE : Assura (Diva/Dracula)
8. Parasitic Extraction : Assura

All the above products come in the Cadence suite. But the whole suite can be very expensive.

Regards,

Vamsi

Re: Information about Cadence tools NEED comments from expe

The critical question wether your foundry x support the tools. You have to count the effort of adapting the kit to your tools.

The story is that the foundries get the Cadence for nearly nothing and the cash is made at the foundry users.

Only where Cadence does not work (Calibre, ADMS) you get also others into play.
