what are the applications of slew rate?
what are the important parametrs that are tobe taken into care when designing
complex op-amp ckts..?
please answer.. thx in advance..

Slew rate generally consider while u are using op amp for filter design, since it is a freq dependent .
Also a very good application of slew rate is that a single ckt can use as sine , square & even a triangular wave o/p

sreejith,
The important thing to remember is that gain-bandwidth product is a small signal parameter, while slew rate is amplitude dependent. For example, the slew rate of a sine wave with a 10V peak is 10 times the slew rate of a sine wave of the same frequency with a 1V peak. If you attempt to exceed the slew rate capability of an op-amp, one of the intermediate stages of the op-amp will saturate in an attempt to keep up with the input signal slew rate. During this time, the input specifications of the op-amp (input resistance, offset voltage, etc) will not be met. In addition, it will take a long time for the intermediate stage to come out of saturation, especially if the op-amp has a built in frequency compensation capacitor.
Regards,
Kral

hi,
slew rate is defined as
dV÷dt, that is rate of change of voltage.
It determines how fast a circuit can charge or discharge the next stage.
thanks

The slew rate is the capacity of the output stage of the opamp to change de voltage in certain time. Ej 13V/uS
but if the signal need a greater variation, then distorsion occours, not saturation.
There are about 30 parameters, but acourding your application some will be more important than for another application.
