i want to know is there any difference between µ law and A law. if yes what is that??

Yes - have small different shape of logaritmic compression in A/D-convertes.

differences is not enough for disturbe peoples talking if you use µ-law in end and a-law in other end on analoge or digital line, but kill modem trafic above 4800-9600 'baud' ...

Modems must use same µ or A-law as Phone station for high speed communication (difference give so much unlinear intermodulation as modem cannot handle this).

If you have 12 bit, possible 14 bit AD/DA-converter, you can use look up table to convert between format (methode used on modems), but impossible to convert properly if you frontend have fix 8 bit A or µ-law AD-converter.
