| What is the Difference between Physics and Electronics ? Is Electronics is a different subject or just a partially combination of Physics and Chemistry ?

| i consider electronics totally depend on physics-solid state physics, we must know the physics of the crystal structure in order to enhance electronics. As we know now scientist are working in 45nm technology, this can be done only when we know the crystal structure and the material characteristics, their electrical characteristics.

So Knowledge of Chemistry is also necessary.

| I would tend to argue that Electronics is a sub-set of physics (albeit very specialised), i would say chemistry is also a subset of physics.

Electronics is entirely empirical. It is based on the observation of relationships between the flow of current and potential energy. All of the units that are used in electronics such as Ohm, Volt, Henry, Faraday (Farad), Ampere, Hertz, etc, are named for the experimenters who observed the behavior of various circuit elements, and then expressed those relationships in mathematical form. The great discoveries in early electronics were made mostly by mathematicians who used their skill to describe the physical world in mathematical terms. That is the reason we are able to build circuits and have them perform in such predictable ways. No branch of practical electronics, as it currently exists, is the result of a physicist who theorized a possible circuit and then created the hardware to make it happen. All of what we have today originated in the opposite way - a physical phenomenon was observed in a laboratory, described mathematically, improved, and then used in a practical circuit by electrical or electronic engineers combining it with pre-existing components through the use of mathematics.
The study of theoretical Physics allows us to understand, in a deeper way, the field of electronics at the atomic level. It is an enhancement to the study of electronics, but in no way a replacement for it.
A person can be trained in electronics without being trained in physics. They could design, build, and maintain innovative electronic equipment. They might even discover new and wonderful components - like the electrician in the 1800's who made the first photocell. However, it requires a physicist to describe exactly why such things work, and to suggest other materials that might work better.
To summarize - Electronics is the study of the practical application of existing devices through the use of their observed mathematical descriptions. Physics is the study of the interaction of matter and energy, and the mathematical description of the process.

All arguments saying the subject of a particular science is included in another field of knowledge respectively one is a subset of the other are basically ignoring the nature of science, to my opinion. You can disprove these thoughts empirically by asking a physicist about some problems from the said "subset" sciences, either theory or application...
In the Middle Ages, it was thought obvious, that any science is a subset of theology. Now it has been accepted that a science is constituted by it's field of application and it's own set of theories.
A interdependence of natural and engineering sciences exists, however, also a lot of interdisciplinary work and many boarder crossing scientists.
P.S.: Although I almost aggree with House_Cat's explanation, I would contradict Electronics is entirely empirical. I imagine some scientists from theoretical electrical engineering department of my former university, to say they probably never worked empirically isn't an insult, just a description. Life is stranger than fiction.

| i would ratherr say that the electronics is the electron, which is derived from the word "electron dynamics".so it would be the dynamics of eletrons. and the cocept of electron comes in atomic physics.. physics includes all the types of dynamics, mechanics,electrostatics, etc.......

Electronics use the statistical results of physics. In physics we study the property of each electron, but in electronics we study the resultant of electrons' behaviors.

as we all know that science is too deep, wide and broad and its complicated to understand..its limit also is too far away from any human thoughts..
actually, we cant find the difference between Physics and Electronics. bcoz electronics itself is part of Physics. that is also true with the help of chemistry scientist have achieved great revolutionary success in ELectronics. so in revolution of Electronics donation of chemistry is also not less.but still its a sub-branch of PHysics..!!
let me give you one example hope so you can understand easily with the help of it.
"on this beautiful earth, when a men and woman give birth to child.
child will get both's characteristic (men and woman) but still child will get the name from its father's family not mother's family. Finally its called child of this man or the name behind child's name is always a man's name not woman's name."
similalr situation is with ELectronics here.
as we know that whether its Physics, Chemistry , Biology or maths all subjects are interconnected. so each have some contribution to coming next geneartion subject. but Electronics is a sub-branch of physics. so, overall credits goes to Physics...!!!

| This is the basic difference between science and engineering. Science discovers things for the fun of it even if there is no practical way to use it. Engineering makes things that people use.

Electronics is the manifestation of the implementation of physics theories in a physical device. As has been said most of the work are done in grey areas, where physicists determine that a new theory could work and electronics engineers implement the suggested theories.
As a study direction I would choose electronics since this allows the ability to physically build / construct something as compared to theoretical physics. However sciences are all mutually dependent and as such no single science can be seen as superior.
Think of this, the chemists figured out the properties of silicone, physicists used this to make a transistor, that electronics engineers used to build the computer, that was used by everyone to further the science
