Post08 Jul 2006 18:05   GSM interleaver problem

Hi
I am trying to understand the interleaver part of the GSM interleaver but I have a difficulty to understand it (my focus is on the SDCCH or SACCH channel).

can anyone help me or introduce me a good reference to read.
my problems:
1) What is an interleaver? (plz introduce a good ref.)
2) How can I convert the interleaver rule (as explained in the ETSI standards) to a vector or matrix ANDing or XORing to the data entered the interleaver? (I have read the ETS 300 575 standard but I didn't understand it).

thanx

interleaver is matrix in which data is entered row-wise and taken out as column-wise. In this way , data is coded.
In the receiver side, the data is again intered row-wise and the output is taken as column-wise. So, same data is recovered.

you can see it in "Wireless Comm. " by Rappaport, 2nd ed.
