Post15 Sep 2006 10:50   Re: Sim300

Hi everybody
Im transmitting data packets(nearly 500Bites) to host through GPRS, unfortunately some of my packets are missing.

Modem responds SEND OK after a packet is sent. Im not getting any responce for those missing packets. In data sheet it is mensioned that Modem responds either SEND OK/SEND FAIL or ERROR but Im not getting any kind of response for missed packets. I havent used flow control's. Is flow control manditory at 9600kbps baud rate.

According to my hardware RTS is pulled down and CTS and DTR are Not connect.

Thankyou
Ravi.

Hi everybody Good day

I have been partially satisfied working with Sim300 fine.

1. I would like to know is there any command to reset modem.
2. Is it manditory to switch On modem manually when modem Switches OFF due to low power (less than 3.4 V).

Thanking you
Ravi.

Hi,
Iam also having the problem of no SIMVDD. although I am getting the poweron and LED blinking. Does it realyy related to the baudrate, what if I have not connected to PC at all

Added after 11 minutes:

Hi,
For Sim300, Does it really require the full rs 232 link or can i work only with Rx,Tx RTS and CTS for normal operation with at commands ( not considering the s/w upgradation)

Thanks,
Ramho

Hi all, I have just purchased a SIM300 module for under $85 in Bnaglore, India.
I am unable to find any sort of documentation on it.
I am in desperate need of interfacing diagrams.
Please help!

Hi
You can find all the datasheets required for SIM300 under the same POST and RX and Tx lines are sufficient to interface with your controller and you need to maintain same power supply for modem and Controller (same voltage).

Thanking you

Hi

I have SIM399-EVB_v2.02 board which works fine.
But know I placed the design on our board and conected it to ARM7 procesor, which for know I am not using full Modem interface( I connected DTR an RTS to 0 ) , and currently just configured RX and TX pins.
And I have the same problem as described before. I just receive 64ms and 800ms led blink periode.
could be UART reason for problems?

I am attaching v 1.06 design used for building my project

best regards

Hi All

Is anyone here using SIMCOM modules in quantity (more than 100). We want to use SIM300, but we are concerned about quality. If anyone can verify for us if these modules are working well and are dependable, I will be grateful..

I am having two sim300 module based modems loaded with two GPRS activated SIM from AIRTEL (indian cellular service provider) . Both these modems are connected to hyperterminal and responding to AT commands well . We have already exchanged SMS voice ,call through these modems . Now i intend to achieve three objectives with it first of all to transmit data using data call through these modems . Secondly to send and receive emails through modems . Third part is to transmit data through GPRS between these modules .I believe to achieve third objective we need to connect these modems to a web server and route data transfer through it . We are planning to host our own website and use database facility provided by BSNL ( Indian ISP) .If anybody from india can comment on it .
I believe this must be basic requirement for many a solution on these three issues will many a lot .I am looking forward for leads towards solution of these problem .

Hello everyone.

It seems that a lot of people is working with the SIM300/340 now. I think it is mainly because it is very cheap.

I have some of these too and I have a question.

Are they reliable? Since we are expected to have a professional product, we must be sure that this module does what it sais. Are any people here that have managed to work with the modules without any problems?

This is the most important part of the product design.

I wish it works good because it is very very cheap!

Thanks.

Bill

I've used over 1k so far, 300 and 300D models. I have some dead modules after some time, but well in an acceptable margin for losses (under 5 pcs. at this qty). The biggest problem at the beginning was with the development, there are a lot of situations when they need a certain way to handle them (low signal situations, in roaming, etc.). I am satisfied by them, and in the future I will go in the same way. Compared for example with Telit GM862, they are better (just my opinion).

Is this based on RF reliability meaning signal stremght, etc or does the module "lock up" and so forth?

Post06 Sep 2007 5:47   Re: Sim300

From the SIM300 datasheet, i understand that transmit burst may cause voltage drop and current consumption reaching levels of 2A.
1) what is this transmit burst?
2) is sending AT commands that requests data from the network concerned, for example AT+CSQ? and AT+CREG? constitutes as transmit burst?
3) does constant periodocal sending of AT+CSQ? and AT+CREG? at intervals of 3 seconds each drains the power supplied to SIM300?

thank you
