pickit 2 in circuit

The PICkit 2 is great design.
The CB0703 (PICKit2) design has some enhanced features (which makes it even better): a RJ12 connector and an optional external power supply are implemented.

With a RJ12 cable (part #:CBL-RJ12-RVS), the BB0703 (PICKit2) can work directly with most target board/programmer designed for ICD2.

which pickit2 package should i buy?

Here is a tutorial on understanding the PICkit 2 hardware:
http://augroups.blogspot.com/2009/05/understanding-microchip-pickit-2-rev.html
Most of the time, people only use PICKit 2 as PIC programmer, understand how it works will definitely help on use it more efficiently.

This tutorial covers some basic design concept on PICkit 2, such as USB voltage, Vpp Boost, Vdd detection and generation, PGD, PGC and Aux voltage clamping, etc.

pickit2 clone programming

I dont know why people say pickit2 is no debugger.... it even has a "debug express" kit that comes a 16f887 trainer (leds, pot for ADC, and switch to control interrupts) . I successfully debugged my thesis ICD while it was running (not working totally as iwant unfortunately, at least not yet ... Sad ) it' 16f887 based (like the trainer it came with) i dont know how ... i mean i have no icd but i was tempted to build one but pickit has plenty of options (UART Tool, logic analyzer, firmware update TOO which is another thing some people say icd is better)and it is relatively cheap .... so... any questions or valid opinions?

full pickit2 clone

Nah.. it's good that such an old post had such a long life!

I am wondering.. don;t we have a SIMPLE USB programmer for the PIC16 and 18F's like there is the USBAsp for AVR?

Just look at how look they made such a thing : http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/

It should not be that hard to emulate USB in a 628A or a 877A!

pickit 2,schematics

Hi,

We have just released a simple USB PIC Programmer based on the PICKit2. It has a built-in 20-pin ZIF socket for easy programming as well as an ICSP header. Check it out at:
