You have to use the Pad Designer.
Either you have to create that flash symbol and put it into your library
or you have to delete the link within that Padstack

Hi all,

I'm using Allegro 15.2, and trying to generate symbol for this BGA : BGA1020C100P32X32_3300X3300X350. Unfortunately, I get this error message :

No DRC errors detected.
E- No command active
W- *WARNING* (axlSetVariable): (".") has to be a string or int
W- Scaled value has been rounded off.
Grids are drawn 6.400, 6.400 apart for enhanced viewability.
Loading axlcore.cxt
E- *Error* eval: undefined function - axlColorSet
E- *Error* load: error while loading file - "C:\\FPM\\fpm.il"
ERROR
t

Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance.

best regards,

Post13 Mar 2008 2:00   Re: Footprint Maker for Allegro (FPM-0.08)

Hi,

Thank you Schallhofer for answering my previous question.

I am currently trying to generate a QFN footprint, allegro ask for a shape in this format SRX0_45Y1_00R0_10 I am not sure to understand that format 0.45mm by 1mm R 0.1mm ?? a rectangle with a round end ?

I made a pin shape centred around origin but when I generate the part I get my pin shape and a huge rectangle of etch around each pin ?? where that come from ??

Someone can guide me trough this ?

Thank you

Thales

Hi thales, don't worry, we gonna get this part work.
At first you are right, SRX0_45Y1_00R0_10 means SHAPE ROUNDED 0,45mm to 1mm with 0,1mm rounded edges.
And second for MY understandig: Do you use only FPM or why did YOU do a pin Shape? When you use the FPM there's no need to "make shapes".
What type of QFN do you want to create? Got a link for me?

Added after 4 minutes:

Hi damian,
either you worked with a version of FPM that do not fit with 15.2,
or you do not run the performance option for your 15.2,
or both.

Post14 Mar 2008 22:54   Re: Footprint Maker for Allegro (FPM-0.08)

Hi Schallhofer

Thank you for the replies.

The part I are trying do make is QFN-28 Jedec MO-243 for that chip
http://www.silabs.com/public/documents/tpub_doc/dsheet/Microcontrollers/Interface/en/CP2103.pdf

The reason why a use Pin shape is because Allegro tell me he cant found that shape and generate a symbol without pin, I don't kwon why maybe a config issue (I got FPM 0.8 with allegro 16.0) ?

From there I can draw the missing pin shape and lets FPM generate the symbol or add manually each pin. I redo all the step and this time I don't get those big etch rectangle witch lead me to the only logical conclusion ... allegro/FPM are possessed !! Wink

I can get a workable footprint now , it is just strange that he ask me a pin shape and not you, what version do you use ?

Thank you for helping a newb like me Smile !

Second question I plan to use via to tie the ground/thermal plate to my ground plane, what is the best to put the via on the symbol definition or to add via when I layout my board ?

thales>> ... that he ask me a pin shape and not you, what version do you use ?

Allegro 16.01 + Hotfix 04 with FPM 0.8. I'll try your QFN at monday first.
But my post from 11. Feb 2008 14:16 shows, that I found some probs with the QFN's in FPM 0.8. Perhaps Richard knows about that and change something.

2. I shoot the vias after routing! I have got only the mounting holes on the symbol definition (everything which is fix!), not the vias.

Hi

thank you for the help Schallhofer.

I found the problem while generating a surface mount footprint for a capacitor. In FPM under Tools-> properties -> Padstack & Pin ->SM Pad ,Fillet was selected,I switched it for normal and all work now FPM don't ask for a shape anymore, look like the fillet pad function need a fix.

With normal pad all work as it suppose to now !

Thanks

Thales

HI Richardlc, this is a great tool. Is it possible for the fpm.exe to specify allegro.exe -sq for people who only use AllegropcbSI. Thanks.

Post12 Apr 2008 21:00   Re: Footprint Maker for Allegro (FPM-0.08)

Hi,
First of all, FPM is really great soft.
However, when I tried to generate something, I get symbols without pins.
Allegro reports that it cannot find padstack. Manual padstack creation and PSMPATH configuration didn't help. Am I doing something wrong? (I use version 16.0/16.01)
Also as far as I understand, FPM produces skill script for part generation inside Allegro. Where is it possible to find it (I mean the generated script itself), so I will be able to modify it manually?
Thank You in advance,
F.S.

Hi palik_x,
First of all, please check if Skill is enabled. (in the low-tier Allegro tool rev.16 it is disabled at all). Second, please check if your path variables refer to the FPM directory (sorry, I dont recall if its either system PATH or Allegro specific path configuration).
By the way, if You will stuck with the same problem I did, try to upgrade to SPB 16.01. In my case it resolved the padstack problem.
All the Best,
F.S.

Nice tool but how can I add a similar part with a different pin pitch?
For example, the SON parts do not include the 1.27mm pitch parts....

If I missed something in the help on how to do this I apologize.

Hi Richard, I really appreciate your FPM. But I have some questions.
when I generate SOD1609X65, I get some error message:
W- *WARNING* (axlCompileSymbol): Illegal symbol type - "shape"
E- (SPMHDB-273): Unable to load shape symbol SRX0_50Y0_83R0_10 (Check PSMPATH setting for this symbol).
E- (SPMHA1-161): Cannot open the design database file ... run standalone dbdoctor on the file.
W- (SPMHDB-63): Small extents ... sector size decreased to: 360,360

And there's no pin in the generated symbol. why?
Thank you!
