Re: Simple Question about total capacitance

What is the total capacitance of the following circuit? The capacitor across is 0.067uF and the others are 1uF.

Thanks

Sorry here is the circuit.

Re: Simple Question about total capacitance

I think the total capacitance seen across the two terminal is 1uF.

Because C0, C1, C2, and C3 are all identical, the voltages on both sides of C4 are always the same. Effectively, C4 doesn't have effect, and you can ignore it. So, two pairs of series capacitors are in parallel... total capacitance is 1uF.

Simple Question about total capacitance

The voltage at the junctions of the 1uF caps in series will be exactly the same if the capacitors are perfect (all exactly 1uF, no leakage current) which means the potential difference across the 0.067uF is allways zero so it has no effect. The effective capacitance is therefore 1uF using the simple rules for series and parallel capacitors.
