Post07 Feb 2006 7:51   about THD(total harmonic distortion)

Question
I have two questions:

the first is : How to simulate the Harmonic Distortion in Spectre?
the second is : Can anybody tell me the formula of THD units in dB and in percentage?

Thx!

1. Just run transient and take the FFT.
2. THD=10log(V²h2 + V²h3 + ... / V²f) Basically it is the ratio of the total power in second and higher harmonics to the fundamental. You can find more in Johns&Martin Analog book.

To compute THD just use the function in the calculator.
