Which is the least expensive AVR JTAG ICE available as far as you know?
I am not interested in building one.At least before I have a working one with me.

This is a serially interfaced JTAG.
Is their any substantial inconvenience or reduction in any type of speed or anything assocoaited with a JTAG interfaced through serial port other than a USB JTAG?
Which one you will suggest for me?
Difference in cost is around 10$.
Your opinion please

hi .. i am using serial avr jtag ice from http://www.mcu.cz/modules/news/article.php?storyid=491 via usb/serial adaptor without any problem. This device works also as isp.

AVR JTAG interfaced through serial port works just fine.
The USB variant was developed mainly due to legacy PC COM port.
There is no penalty regarding speed using AVR JTAG interfaced through serial COM port. Or at least I didn't noticed.

Not much devices are supported by ICE.And no support will be implemented for newer avr's. Visit atmel page for device list.
If you plan to work with newer avr's - buy usb based ICE II . It supports debugwire as well (one wire debugging for tiny models )

JTAG MKII that is introduced by atmel have to mega128 cpu and one dual port RAM,uses PDIUSBD12 as usb chip.(I saw mine).
But there is no sch available.Nothing about it is available!
