Debug or modify a large netlist manually is error prone and time consuming. GOF, Gates-On-the-Fly is a tool to do netlist trace debug and ECO in GUI mode.
It can be used as
. Netlist Browser.
. Partial schematic viewer.
. Netlist ECO tool.
. Gate level (with SDF file) simuation debug.
. Check gates position on silicon in GUI mode.

Hi RCircuit
You should specify the cell library, like
gof -v youlibrary uart.v
Check GOF usage for detail
http://www.nandigits.com/p84.htm
Let me know if it helps.
Thanks.

Yeah. They r gone.
Wahoo... Looks nice, I like the schematic view, it allows to move gates anywhere.
How large netlist can take?
Thanks.

GOF has powerful Partial Schematic feature. Make it very easy to isolate the logic when you need to do ECO or debug.
The netlist size is unlimited as long as the computer has enough memory. And it won't sacrify speed.
64bits workstation is best choice when the netlist is huge.
The largest size netlist I have tried is 700M.

Can you be more specific on the function of the software?
GOF can read in SDF file, and fast access the delay information in the Schematic.

it is good!!
GOF, Gates On the Fly, is a graphical tool specialized in verilog netlist debug and modification. It allows users to process netlist in GUI mode. In IC Design flow, the traditional way to edit or debug netlist is a manual process or with some help of script tools like perl or tcl. The manual process is error prone and tedious. When it comes to SOC design with multi-million-gate size, the netlist processing is even harder and more complicate.
GOF's unique features make it the best tool for netlist debugging and editing.
Pure GUI mode with short learning curve
Flexible netlist browser
Powerful Partial Schematic
Isolate logic cone easily and fast
Large size netlist processing
Interface to waveform viewer tools, Verdi and GTKWave
Many build-in ECO Operations
Spare cells processing by changing Metal layers only.
MacroCell support to replace a cluster of logic cells
Save ECO in several formats
Easy to fit in other ASIC ECO flows

The latest release of GOF v2.200 has big improvement in efficiency of memory usage.
An experiment has done to compare GOF with Verdi and GateVision's schematic feature. (Verdi has powerful RTL debug feature, this experiment only covered it's netlist processing and schematic engine).
To load 378M bytes netlist files on Pentium 4 Linux machine.
Load time, GateVision has longest time to load, 220 seconds. Verdi 130 seconds. GOF takes 70 only seconds.
Memory usage, Verdi has worst memory usage control. It needs 1.5 G bytes. GOF uses 643M bytes to process the 375M bytes netlists. GateVision runs a program to convert netlist to compressed data format which uses peak as much as 1.4 G bytes. After the conversion is done, it only takes 431M bytes.
Partial Schematic Interactivity, Verdi and GateVision have weak partial schematic interactivity. Users can't control the cells and wires location. GOF has very strong interactivity. Users can change cells position any time and edit/add/delete cells and connections.
ECO capability, GateVision doesn't have ECO features. Verdi/nECO has limited netlist ECO function. GOF has much more complete ECO operations.

GOF Version 2.202 has Extract Logic Cone feature.
Starting from one cell, execute the Extract Logic Cone command, the logic cone driving the cell will be drawn on the schematic and automatically placed in proper position. The logic cone ends at ports or registers.

The most hard part of netlist ECO is to add more than hundreds of gates without re-synthesis. The new feature of GOF, Logic-Cone-ECO, is to make the process easier. The basic idea is to replace the old logic cone in old netlist by new logic cone from resynthesized netlist. The logic cone can have several or thousands of gates. Check the detail here.

V2.300 supports Linux 64 bits platform. It breaks the 4G bytes memory limitation. SOC design can easily have several Gigabytes size netlists. GOF is well positioned to handled modern SOC ASIC design.
