Dear Sir/Madam,

Let me know how to draw coaxial feeding line in HFSS and IE3D? I am designing a microstrip patch with coaxial feeding for my project. How to do the matching in such case? Please share your expert comments.

Hi hiru,

if you want to simulate a microstrip antenna and feed it with coaxial cable from under ground plane, it is very simple to draw and define boundary.

1-you should draw a coaxial cable with/with out thick sheild. (you have 2 option)
2-unit the sheild to gnd if you draw a thick sheild.
3-unit inner conductor of coaxe cable to patch.
4-define the entrance location of the wave into coaxe cable as wave port.
5-define the existance location of the wave from coaxe as perfect H.
6-define whole side of the coaxe as perfect E. (if your sheild doesn't have thickness)
7-define a radiation box with a size more than 4*λ.
8-solve your problem.
